The Caribbean's Hidden Gem- Curaçao
Bon Bini (welcome)!
If you have been following my Instagram you've seen all the beautiful pictures and stories of my baecation last month. We decided to head to Curacao for bae's 30th birthday and it officially stands as one of the best vacations we've taken. Six days wasn't nearly enough to experience all the culture, beauty and adventure this island had to offer. Keep reading to find out more!
We stayed at one of the best boutique hotels on the Island Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel & Ocean Suites which was absolutely beautiful! Our room was right outside of a semi-private pool that overlooked the ocean and only a few feet from the restaurant and bar. EVERYONE was so warm, welcoming and helpful. They treated us as friends from the moment we arrived. They were just a glimpse at how incredibly nice every single person in Curacao was.
We explored the island as much as 6 days would allow and it was dushi (Papiamento meaning for good). Indulging in the food and culture we ate at Plasa Bieu, a local restaurant, picked up some fruit at the Floating Market and had perfume made from all natural ingredients.
We took a day trip to the west side of the island and hit a few beaches including Playa Lagun, Cas Abao before ending the night at one of the island's most popular restaurants, Karakter.
One of my favorite parts of the vacay was our boat trip to Klein Curacao. Klein is a private uninhabited island about an hour from the main land. The boat ride was intense but I loved it. We spent the day on the island relaxing, snorkeling (I was chased by a sea turtle haha) and the lunch- Oh em gee, sooooo delicious!
Klein Curacao booked with Bounty Adventures
But without a doubt, the best excursion of the week was our time at Aquafari. Aquafari is a hybrid of underwater scooters and scuba diving. You're suspended from a buoy 20 feet below the surface as a guide takes you on an underwater adventure. I held a sea urchin, fed fish and touched some kind of sea worm. I am a fish so I was totally in my element. It's a bit scary at first but once you start descending it's breathtaking,
Curacao showed us the time of our lives and if you haven't added it to your travel list you should.
